The young Swede, who had spent time with Thomas Frank’s side in pre-season, picked up an injury which kept him out for a sustained period, but having returned to fitness over the past month or so and making his first team debut against Stoke City in the Emirates FA Cup, the midfielder is keen to keep progressing over the course of the season.

Discussing his development, he explained: “It was really nice; I’d been on the bench a couple of times before and the last time I was on I managed to get my shirt on but didn’t come on. I came in and so many feelings went through me when I stepped onto the pitch.

“I would say that to get an FA Cup debut was really fun, but my goal is to make my Championship debut also this season.

“I was training with the first team in the summer and I managed to get on the bench a couple of times before I got the injury. To be honest, the three months went quite quickly, and I’ve been back for six weeks.”

Fredrik featured for Brentford B last Friday against Beijing Renhe in what was a 2-0 win for Neil MacFarlane’s side with Aubrel Koutsimouka netting both goals. Discussing the result, the midfielder says his side were well worth the win.

He continued: “I think we performed well, and we’ve been working on a lot of set pieces so it’s nice to score from those as well.

“I would say that we were fitter, and we outran them, and they didn’t have too many chances.

“We attacked the game from the beginning, you don’t always know what you’re going to come up against, but as soon as we started it felt just the same as playing against any other team.”
