Brentford claimed a 3-0 win over Watford in their opening PDL Cup fixture on Tuesday afternoon at Watford's training ground.

The Bees went into the break two goals up thanks to goals from Domeiro Bobb-Semple and Michael McSorley. Naeem Giscombe wrapped up the win with an excellent second-half finish.

The young Bees played a back four which consisted of Freddie Taylor, Matas Klimas, Gregory Asemohkai and Konstantin Ivanov.

Isaiah Powis, Kaya Halil and Otis Honor formed a midfield three while Domeiro Bobb-Semple, Emeka Peters and Michael McSorley led the front line.

Brentford got off to a flying start scoring inside the opening five minutes of the match, as an excellent move saw McSorley find space for a shot with Bobb-Semple slotting home the rebound.

Lydia Bedford’s side moved the ball well for a lot of the opening half with Peters and Bobb-Semple often the out ball on the wings.

The visitors doubled their lead on 16 minutes after some brilliant play from Taylor whose quick throw put through McSorley.

The striker showed great composure while under pressure to slot the ball through the legs of the Watford keeper.

Watford began putting pressure on the Brentford goal, but Evan Anderson remained composed between the sticks for the Bees with the keeper collecting almost all of the home side’s corners.

Brentford thought they had scored their third just after the half-hour mark when an excellent move ended with McSorley finishing well, but the offside flag ruled out the goal.

The second half saw much of the same for Brentford as the visitors continued to work the ball forward well as they aimed to put the game to bed.

Watford were limited to very few chances but when they did have a shot on goal Anderson stood firm. The keeper did well to stop Josh Diza’s shot from close range keeping his side two goals ahead.

Brentford made it three just before the hour mark when substitute Giscombe found the bottom corner following a great piece of skill which allowed him to work some room for a shot inside the Watford box.

Bobb-Semple was keen for a second goal in the game and the winger thought he had one when he was played in behind Watford’s defence, but the assistant’s flag denied the Bees their fourth.

Brentford saw out the remaining minutes in the second half to earn all three points in their first PDL Cup fixture.
