Another one of Brentford’s stars of the 1970s has become the latest player to be inducted in to the Brentford FC Hall of Fame. Andy McCulloch was presented with a special commemorative salver by Brentford FC Chairman Cliff Crown at half time when The Bees faced Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, 19 August. Andy, 68, played for both teams and was there to watch Brentford win 2-0.

Andy spent just over three seasons at Griffin Park and was part of the Brentford team that won promotion from Division Four in 1977/78, forming a strike partnership with Steve Phillips. He was named Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year for his efforts during that season. Andy scored 22 goals in 45 league games that term.

The powerful striker had joined The Bees from Oxford United in 1976. He started his career at Queens Park Rangers and spent time at Cardiff City before moving back to West London. His three years at Griffin Park, before a move to Sheffield Wednesday in 1979, saw him score 48 league goals in 127 games. He is a regular visitor to Griffin Park, often meeting supporters in the Legends Lounge at matches.

Andy joins an ever-growing Brentford FC Hall of Fame which also includes Malcolm MacDonald, Joe James, Ken Coote Phil Holder, Dean Holdsworth, Terry Evans, Bob Booker, Peter Gelson and current B Team Head Coach Kevin O’Connor. The Hall of Fame is administered jointly by the Club, and The Brentford FC Former Players’ Association.
