Brentford B midfield player Angel Waruih says that the squad are thoroughly enjoying their Premier League Cup campaign having taken maximum points so far.

They have now won all three of their games to sit top of Group D on nine points after their 3-2 win over Peterborough United at the Lamex Stadium on Friday.

Reflecting on how things stand, the 18-year-old said: “We haven’t lost a game for a while now. Credit to the lads, everyone is working hard and we have to keep the confidence and the consistency up. It’s a really good competition, our first time playing in it. The level is high and in the games we’ve seen how tough they are and the boys are doing well.”

The side held a 3-0 going into injury time at the end of the game but United hit back with two very late goals. Angel says the team will certainly learn from the last few minutes going forwards.

He continued: “We’ll learn more that the game isn’t over until the referee blows that whistle, so we have to keep concentrated. We have to make sure we finish our chances and make sure the game doesn’t run away from you."

Good spirits in the B Team camp after another win

Reflecting on some of the goals scored, as Angel played the pass into Ryan Trevitt which led to a Brentford penalty being awarded early on, the midfielder believes the work on the training pitch at Jersey Road is paying off in recent weeks.

He continued: “At times it was really fluid, and it’s the work we’ve put in on the training ground week in, week out. You can see it on the pitch, sometimes we need to finish our chances but it’s good we’re getting in the positions so we know we can do it.”
