Thomas Frank confirmed that Brentford have no fresh injury concerns following the 3-0 victory over Southampton last time out.

The Bees journey across the capital on Saturday to face Premier League pacesetters Arsenal.

“We are looking good and strong,” said Frank at his pre-match press conference.

“Pontus [Jansson] and [Frank] Onyeka are just too short to be involved in the squad.

“Frank has trained fully the last two days, and Pontus is close to full training. It’s very positive.”

Frank was asked to provide an update on goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who wasn’t involved in the matchday squad for Southampton’s visit to the Gtech Community Stadium.

“It’s a little tricky situation with his ankle,” Frank revealed, “it shouldn’t be too long, but he won’t be available for tomorrow.

“It’s been hugely frustrating for all of us, but especially for Thomas, of course.

“He said to me the other day that he thinks he’d only been out for one week in his whole career; now he’s been out for three or fourth months [during his time at Brentford].

“I hope he will come back soon. He’s a very good character and we are happy to be working with him.”

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table having taken 50 points from their opening 20 matches.

Frank was full of praise for the job that Mikel Arteta has done in north London and said that his side will need to deliver their best-ever Premier League performance if they are to come away from the Emirates with a positive result.

“I always believe that we can win, but - and it’s a big but - we’re facing Arsenal who are top of the league.

“They have been going from strength to strength and they are in a fantastic position.

“It’s well deserved that they are top of the league. They look in sync and they have all their key players fit and available. At home they play with an unbelievable intensity.

“To get anything out of this game we need to top perform. We’ll probably need the best performance we’ve ever put out in a Premier League game.”

Frank continued: “Arteta has done a top job in building a culture over three years, making difficult decisions and sharpening a style of play.

“They are also playing with that bit between their teeth, that extra edge and determination, because they can smell that they have a chance to win the league.

“You can see that they are running harder and in the duels they are giving everything.

“They’re so eager to win, and that makes it even more difficult to beat them.

“I’ll be pleased to see two former colleagues and good friends, set-piece coach Nicolas Jover and goalkeeper coach Inaki Cana, who have done a top job there as well.”
