It may be two weeks before Brentford are next back in Sky Bet Championship action, but it will not be a quiet period as many of the squad head off on international duty. While the hard work will be ongoing in West London 13 Brentford players are away representing their countries. There will be seven First Team players and six B Team players in action for their nations in the coming weeks and all the details are below.

Four Brentford players will be on full international duty with Romaine Sawyers taking the longest trip. He will be linking up with the St Kitts and Nevis squad for a CONCACAF Nations League qualifying fixture. St Kitts will play St Martin on Sunday, 14 October, in their one game this month but there will be three other Brentford players with two internationals on the agenda.

Chris Mepham is in the Wales squad for two matches. Wales will play Spain in a friendly on Thursday, 11 October, in Cardiff before travelling to Dublin for a UEFA National League game against Republic of Ireland that will take place next Tuesday, 16 October. Alan Judge was named in the provisional Ireland squad for that match and one against Denmark in the same competition but did not make the final group.

The Denmark squad does, however, contain Henrik Dalsgaard. The Danes will face Ireland on Saturday, 13 October, in Dublin and then have a friendly against Austria next Tuesday. On the same days South Africa will be in action and they have Kamohelo Mokotjo in their squad. Bafana Bafana face Seychelles home and away on Saturday and Tuesday in qualification matches for the Africa Cup of Nations that will take place next summer.

Two more members of Brentford’s First Team squad are with young England teams for the next week. Ezri Konsa is with the Under-21 squad for two UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification matches. The young Lions face Andorra on Thursday, 11 October, and then travel to Edinburgh to face Scotland next Tuesday as they look to reach the finals next summer. Meanwhile, Ellery Balcombe, who is on loan at Boreham Wood, is in the Under-20 squad for matches against Italy on Thursday and Czech Republic next Monday, 15 October.

And there are seven more young Brentford players away with national youth teams. First Team defender Mads Bech Sørensen and his compatriot Luka Racic, part of the B Team group, are with the Denmark Under-20 squad. They will be heading to Marbella, Spain, for matches against Russia, on Thursday, and Sweden, on Saturday.

Jan Žambůrek has been named in the Czech Republic Under-18 squad for their matches this month. There is an intense schedule for Jan and his team mates as they face The Netherlands on Thursday before flying to England. The Czech Republic will play Sweden on Saturday and then England next Monday as they take part in a three-team tournament. The Sweden squad for those matches includes Brentford B goalkeeper Simon Andersson. Sweden will play England on Thursday before the game against Czech Republic on Saturday.

Brentford B Team midfield player David Titov has been named in the Latvia Under-19 squad this month. They have a training camp and two matches against Greece on Friday and Monday. There was a first Iceland Under-21 call-up for Kolbeinn Finnsson. Iceland play Northern Ireland on Friday and Spain next Tuesday in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification matches.

For Jaakko Oksanen, the qualification process for the UEFA European Under-19 Championships of 2019 is about to start. He is in the Finland Under-19 squad for three matches that will decide if Finland reach the next stage. They play Denmark on Wednesday, Italy on Saturday and Estonia next Tuesday. All three matches will be in Estonia and the top two teams in the four-team group will reach the next stage.
