Brentford's West London derby win over Chelsea last weekend has earned extra recognition. The Bees recorded a memorable 4-1 win at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, coming from behind to score four second half goals. Vitaly Janelt grabbed two of them with Christian Eriksen and Yoane Wissa also on the score sheet.

The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry and Rachel Yankey, has determined that the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Brentford for the win. The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,500 competitive matches in professional football. Brentford Manager Thomas Frank will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LMA Performance of the Week trophy.

All the goals came in a thrilling second half, but the first was almost as entertaining. Brentford dominated the early stages without finding a way through and then had to defend well at the end of the half. The Bees fell behind to a long range strike from Antonio Rüdiger that may end up being forgotten but was the best of the afternoon. They levelled within seconds and never looked back, beating the team that currently hold the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Club Cup.

Brentford have been regular winners of this award in recent seasons, this being the fifth time they have done so since November 2019. The Bees took the award for their opening evening win over Arsenal in August and a 1-0 victory at AFC Bournemouth with ten men last April won the award. An away win at Derby County in July 2020 and a 7-0 win over Luton Town in November 2019 earned similar recognition.
