Brentford B were held to a 2-2 draw by West London neighbour Queens Park Rangers Under-21s in a behind closed doors fixture at Jersey Road on Friday afternoon.

Tony Yogane got his first goal for the B Team as he impressed throughout the match with one of the Brentford Trialists also getting on the scoresheet.

It was a game where the Bees dominated the opening stages with Yogane himself having a penalty shout inside the first minute but the referee waved away the claims as Brentford looked dangerous early on.

Brentford start brightly against QPR at Jersey Road

It took just nine minutes for the side to go ahead, and it came when a Val Adedokun free-kick out on the left was whipped in dangerously. There was a scramble in the box as Isaac Holland tried his luck but one of the Trialists was on hand to slot home from close range to make it 1-0.

Yehor Yarmoliuk was next to try his luck just before the 20-minute mark as Yogane did well down the left before crossing low to find the Ukrainian, who controlled well but his powerful drive was well blocked for a corner. Adedokun then had a golden chance a few seconds later to make it 2-0 as he combined with his opposite full back, Charlie Farr. The former Aston Villa man crossed deep from the right hand side to find the Irishman at the far post, and despite connecting well with a side foot volley, it edged just wide of goal.

It took until around 30 minutes for QPR to threaten and they had the ball in the net before the goal was ruled out by the referee. Micah Anthony led a break away for the away side following a Brentford corner and he raced towards goal with Isaac Holland chasing him. Goalkeeper Roco Rees raced off his line to attempt to block before the QPR man lifted the ball into the goal, but it was pulled back following a foul from the winger on Holland as they challenged for the ball.

Angel Waruih was next to have an attempt for Brentford 10 minutes before the break but his half volley was saved well by the foot of the QPR keeper and that preceded a good chance for the opponents which forced Rees into a smart piece of goalkeeping. Steve Bala went through on goal and as he looked to shoot Rees was quick off his line to claim the ball bravely at his opponent’s feet. Just seconds before the break QPR did level, though, as Bala got his goal with a low drive from a tight angle which Rees did get a hand to but the ball squirmed away into the net to make it 1-1 at the break.

HALF-TIME: Brentford B 1 QPR U21 1

It took the Bees eight minutes to get back in front following the restart as Yogane got his well deserved goal. With the help of the wind the youngster drove down the left-hand side before aiming an effort towards the far corner which evaded the keeper and floated into the top right-hand corner.

Shortly after the hour the away side hit back again in a goal which the side will have been disappointed to concede. After winning the ball back on midway, Anthony charged forward and managed to evade a couple of tackles before he fed the ball into the path of Alfie Lloyd who finished high into the net past Rees. Another chance then fell for Bala just a few minutes later as a cross into the box found the QPR man but he volleyed wide from close range.

After that spell, the Bees began to wrestle a bit more control of the game back as Yogane threatened once more out on the left but his effort from distance flew over with the help of the blustery conditions. One of the Trialists also controlled well on the edge of the box but his powerful drive towards the bottom right-hand corner was stopped well.

There was goalmouth action in the dying minutes as Farr blocked well following a corner for the away side. The Bees then went down the other end where a chance fell for Waruih following a set piece but he couldn’t keep his shot on target as the match finished level.
