Brentford ended the season on a high, beating Ohio State University 4-2 in a behind-closed-doors fixture at Wheatsheaf Park on Tuesday afternoon.

The young Bees scored two goals in each half to claim the win with Conor McManus, Omaru King, Beaux Booth and Tony Yogane all finding the net for the home side.

Neil MacFarlane named a young Brentford starting XI which included three Under-18s players in Ollie Shield, Kerron Samuels and King.

The home side got off to a great start with the young Bees rewarded for their early dominance with a goal inside 10 minutes.

Ethan Laidlaw’s first touch from Ali Urinboev’s pass was perfect as the forward went one on one with Max Trejo in the Ohio net.

The visiting keeper made a great save to keep Laidlaw’s shot out, but McManus was there to stroke home the rebound scoring his first goal for the club.

Ohio saw their first chance come just after the 20-minute mark when Ashton Bilow profited off a short back pass from Chanse Headman.

The forward ran towards goal before shooting but was denied by a great save from Vincent Angelini.

Brentford made Ohio pay for not taking their chance as the home side went 2-0 up on 23 minutes.

Holland did well to dispossess Nate Demian before finding King at the far post with a neat pass.

The winger, who has been a key feature for Lydia Bedford’s Under-18s this season, found the bottom corner with a first time finish.

Just after the half hour mark the away side pulled one back when a long ball beat the Brentford back line and found Sibbi Magnusson, the froward took his goal well with a composed finish past Angelini.

Shield put on an impressive first half display with the right-back keeping his side ahead going into the break.

Nick Mihenry’s cross from the right flank reached Luciano Pechota at the far post but Shield made a great sliding challenge to block the ball.

Booth, who was utilised as a holding midfielder for the Bees was putting on a good display and added a calm nature to Brentford’s game.

The youngster extended his side’s lead after the break when he latched onto a clearance and took a great touch before finding the back of the net with a left footed finish.

Ohio struck back moments later though when Demian powerfully headed the ball into the roof of the net from close range from a corner kick.

Despite Ohio offering a good challenge, Brentford were the side who saw most of the ball and profited from the quality that came off the bench in the second half.

Yogane was able to seal the win for his side when the winger timed his run perfectly, getting on the end of a pass from Laidlaw before taking the ball around the keeper and passing into an empty net.
