Brentford B ended their trip to Spain with a 1-0 win over Betis Deportivo Balompié on Saturday.

The young Bees put in a positive performance in their final fixture in Spain rounding off a trip which saw the side play two games against Real Betis.

Neil MacFarlane made only two changes to the team which was narrowly beaten by Betis on Thursday evening, as Erion Zabeli and Ethan Laidlaw made way for Max Dickov and a trialist.

Brentford made a positive start to the game with the midfield duo of Ethan Brierley and Riley Owen seeing a lot of the ball in the opening stages of the game.

Brierley had a good early chance for the Bees when the 19-year-old made a well-timed run into the box and got on the end of a Romeo Beckham cross, but the youngster was unable to turn his headed effort towards goal.

Betis threatened themselves moments later when the host's forward found himself through on goal, only to be denied following a brilliant piece of defending from Ji-soo Kim. The South Korean got back in time to clear the ball off the line ensuring the scoreline remained level.

Dickov was often the out ball for the young Bees, and it was the wing-back who began a good move for Brentford as the side had an opportunity to score just before the break.

Some nice link-up play between Dickov and Beckham on the right flank drew the Betis midfield in, allowing the ball to be fed back inside to Tony Yogane, the attacker then drove forward before finding Dickov who made an overlapping run. The youngster delivered a great cross to a trialist whose close-range shot forced a save from the Betis keeper.

Brentford made two changes at the interval with Isaac Holland and Chanse Headman both introduced to the game, as MacFarlane aimed to give his squad some valuable minutes in the Spanish heat.

The visitors continued to display brilliant intensity in the second half and were rewarded with a goal just before the hour mark.

An excellent long pass from Brentford keeper, Vincent Angelini, matched a great run from Dickov in behind the Betis defence. The Brentford number 11 slipped a neat pass into a trialist who showed composure to tuck the ball home.

Yogane nearly doubled the lead for the visitors when the forward showed some good footwork on the edge of the Betis box, allowing himself space to get off a shot but his strike was saved well by the Betis keeper.

The young Bees managed to secure the win in Spain against a strong Betis side, the B team will now return to the Robert Rowan Performance Centre as the side prepares for their up-and-coming Premier League Cup fixtures.
