We are pleased to announce the signing of Ethan Laidlaw on a two-year contract with a club option of an additional year from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.
Laidlaw will join up with Neil MacFarlane’s Brentford B to build on his development as the side continue their preparations for the 2023/24 season.
The 18-year-old forward player came through the ranks with Hibernian and has been part of their Development Squad, also turning out for Hibs in the Under-19s UEFA Youth League for the first time in the club’s history.
Laidlaw played four times for the side in the European competition and found the net once against FC Nantes at Easter Road. The side’s run in the tournament ended with defeat to German side Borussia Dortmund. Laidlaw has also featured for Scotland Under-18s in matches against Wales in March earlier this year having also been part of the under-17 set up.
He will now link up with the young Bees ahead of upcoming pre-season fixtures with Hanwell Town and Chelsea Under-21s in the coming days.
Discussing adding Ethan to his squad, B-team head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “I think Ethan is a really good prospect. He has some good attributes that we feel we can develop and work on with him during his time with us.
“We’ve been looking to add to that area within our B team and he's come in on trial and really impressed the staff. He can play on the shoulder as a striker, and he has a really good work ethic. We’ll continue to add to his game and we look forward to watching his development with us.”
