Brentford B were knocked out of the Middlesex Senior Cup following a 3-2 defeat to Northwood on Tuesday night.

After going into the half-time break down 2-0, the young Bees responded with goals from Kyreece Lisbie and a trialist to equalise in the second half. A late penalty ensured the win for the home side, however.

Brentford featured a new-look outfit at The Skyline Roofing Stadium, with a host of Under-18s making appearances in the matchday squad.

Max Dickov and Vonnte Williams enjoyed their first competitive minutes after returning from injury, while Lisbie continued his comeback too.

Dickov started strongly for the young Bees, beating multiple defenders on eight minutes before being met by Dan Hosier in goal for Northwood.

The hosts went one better a minute later, Godlove Oppong finding the back of the net to open the scoring.

Brentford almost drew level two minutes later. Ollie Shield put a great ball through to free up Lisbie, however his shot faded across the goal.

The young Bees continued to enjoy the momentum despite falling behind. Under-18 midfielder Kaya Halil’s free kick found Andre Grey inside the box, however his header went wide.

Brentford had another chance on 15 minutes as Dickov put a ball into the box that found Lisbie sliding into goal, his shot going just over the bar.

Northwood found themselves through on goal on 19 minutes, however under-18 goalkeeper Connor Wolfheimer made a superb save.

The young Bees continued to press and enjoyed some promising moves. Halil came inches from equalising on 21 minutes, his corner finding its way to the back of the pack and going past the right post.

Halil was at it again on 32 minutes, his through ball freeing up Lisbie who put his shot over the bar.

Halil followed it up with a super corner on 35 minutes, which fell to under-18 defender Greg Asemokhai at the back post, but he couldn’t put it home.

Despite some strong play it was Northwood who found the next goal, Danny Vincent’s strike from the edge of the box hitting the back of the net to double their lead.

Out of the break Brentford continued to look for an opener and found it on 59 minutes. Halil’s free kick hit Shield at the back post who headed it back towards goal where Lisbie stood to head it home from close range.

One minute later Ade Gbolahan was shown a red card for the hosts, the young Bees pouncing on it immediately to equalise. Dickov played the ball through to trialist who found the back of the net.

Riding the momentum the young Bees continued to press and look for a winner. Beaux Booth pushed down the left side and into the box and shot on 79 minutes, but it skipped across goal.

Shield nearly put the visitors ahead one minute later, his left cross curling late and crashing into the left post.

Despite the momentum, a late penalty to Archie James gave the hosts back the lead. Although the young Bees dominated possession late and came close to an equaliser, the lead was one the hosts held until full-time.
