Brentford B will open their Premier League Cup campaign on Friday 15 September against Fulham Under-21s at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

The young Bees will begin the defence of the trophy they won in the 2022/23 season as they host our west London neighbours in Woking.

Last time we met

The sides last met towards the end of the 2022/23 season in the semi-finals of this competition as Brentford claimed a 2-1 win at Motspur Park with goals from Alex Gilbert and Tristan Crama.

Brentford have been placed in Group G this season alongside Fulham, Burnley and Leicester City. The competition works firstly as a group stage where teams play each other twice, home and away, before it progresses to the knockout stages. 32 teams have entered the tournament this season.

Fulham’s U21s have had a strong start to their 2023/24 campaign having picked up wins over the likes of Wolves and Manchester City in August. They’ve been in fine scoring form in recent weeks having beaten Crystal Palace 5-2 and Southampton 5-1 in Premier League 2.

Former Premier League player Hayden Mullins is the new head coach of Fulham’s U21 side with former boss Steve Wigley taking on the role of Academy Technical Director in the summer.
