Brentford B captain Val Adedokun has joined Hungarian first-division side Diósgyőri VTK on a season-long loan.

The full-back will join Diósgyőri for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign; they sit sixth in the table after seven games, with two wins, three draws and two losses.

Adedokun has been a staple of Neil MacFarlane’s group since signing with the club in August 2021.

The defender led the young Bees last season as captain, starting in 33 of his 34 games played, recording four goals and two assists in 2,980 minutes played across the season.

This included a match-winning goal in the Premier League Cup group stage against Leicester City Under-21s.

Adedokun also stepped up to the first team last season, having been named on the bench in five Premier League games.

He also played three friendlies for Thomas Frank's side against Lille, Brighton and Hove Albion and Watford, with the latter two of those being starts.

He played a pivotal role in the young Bees’ Premier League Cup triumph in the 2022/23 season, playing and starting all 10 games throughout the side’s campaign, culminating in a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers Under-21s in the final at Gtech Community Stadium.

Speaking on Adedokun’s loan deal, MacFarlane said: "This is a fantastic move to a top side in a very competitive league. He has been fantastic ever since he joined the B team.

“He has continued to develop each year and has become a very mature player. Last year he captained our side and won Player of the Year, so he is ready for this next step.

"We wish him the very best of luck as this is a great next step for his career.“
