At this weekend’s match against Burnley, Brentford FC and the Premier League will be working together to promote the league-wide ‘No Room for Racism’ campaign.

Fans and clubs will be encouraged to celebrate diversity and inclusion while being challenged to report racism and discrimination in any shape or form.

The campaign forms part of a series of initiatives that the Premier League are implementing to address racism in society. The No Room For Racism message will be visible at Saturday’s game on signage, television coverage and LED boards.

The message from across the league is clear - there is No Room For Racism, anywhere. Not online, not in the stands, not at home and not on the streets. We all must come together as fans, as players and as clubs to combat discrimination wherever it exists in society.

Under the Club’s BeeTogether campaign, work has been taking place alongside the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust throughout the year within the local community. Aimed at educating the next generation of Bee’s fans of the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in football and the wider society.

Since the start of October, Brentford Club Ambassador Marcus Gayle and current Brentford Women’s footballer Salma Mahamud have been touring primary schools across the local community with the Championship Play-off Final Trophy.

Whilst touring, they have been delivering anti-discrimination workshops as part of the Premier League Primary Stars Programme. The workshops have looked at why footballers are taking the knee before games, the importance of equality diversity and inclusion, as well sharing their own personal experiences surrounding racism in football, and how they overcame them.

Up until March this year they have delivered to 45 schools and 1145 primary school pupils with some great feedback from the participants. One Year Five pupil from Green Dragon Primary School said: “I felt sad because some people insult others just because of their skin colour. It’s not fair and we need to do something about it.”

The Head Teacher at Castle View Primary added: “An inspiring, relevant and deeply powerful discussion for our boys and girls. Marcus and Salma brilliantly facilitated an important dialogue about racism in our society.”

Through No Room for Racism, the Premier League and its clubs work with fans, the FA, EFL, PFA, Kick It Out and the police to tackle racism on and off the pitch, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across all areas of football.

So, if you see discrimination, Challenge it. Report it. Change it.

At Brentford we encourage supporters to report in the following way - speak to any of our stewards
