Brentford Football Club have stepped in to ensure the town will be lit up this Christmas.
The Club was informed there would be a reduced Christmas lights display in Brentford this year due to a lack of funds.
The Brentford High Street Steering Group received no other external funding for 2012 Christmas lights and funds raised have been concentrated on celebrating the London Olympic Games and the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in the summer.
Brentford FC have donated £1,500 to the lights fund and there will now be a festive display in the town this year.
Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “The Brentford High Street Steering Group have done a fantastic job this year.
“The events that took place in Brentford this summer were superbly organised and will, I’m sure, live long in the memory.
“I was disappointed to learn funds were low and there would be no Christmas lights in the High Street this year.
“The Brentford is Brilliant display last year captured the imagination both of local people and visitors.
“Our supporters certainly got in to the spirit of it.
“We have been able to make a contribution to this year’s lights fund and were delighted to hear this will make a difference.”
The Brentford Christmas display will be lit on Friday, November 23.
There will be a special event at Watermans, on High Street, close to the junction with Ealing Road, starting at 5pm.
Andrew Dakers, Chair of Brentford High Street Steering Group, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Brentford FC this year in lighting up Brentford.
“Once again the club is demonstrating – this time in lights – its commitment to the local community and ensuring Brentford is Brilliant.
“We look forward to welcoming Brentford FC supporters and families to Watermans on Friday when RASPO, a steel band will be performing Caribbean music and carols.
“Green Dragon School’s choir will also be performing.
“Then we have a ‘small forest’ of Christmas trees that will light up at the front of Watermans.
“Mulled wine, spiced apple juice and chestnuts will be available.”
