Brentford Football Club has unveiled a special badge to mark its 125th anniversary.

The badge, pictured above, will be used throughout the 2014/15 season, the Club’s 125th.

It will not, however, be used on shirts next season.

The badge is based upon one believed to be the Club’s first ever crest.

This was handed to the Club as part of a treasure trove donated by the family of Arthur Charlton, who played for Brentford between 1892 and 1898.

More information on those items can be seen here.

A variation of the first badge will be on Brentford FC shirts next season, subject to Football League approval.

More information on this will follow in due course.

Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “We were delighted to be entrusted recently with a collection of items belonging to former player, Arthur Charlton.

“I am pleased to say that these items will have a proud place within an area of the new stadium which will display artefacts from throughout the history of the Club.

“Among the items was an enamel badge featuring the Club crest from 1894.

“We believe it to be the earliest known Club crest.

“The badge was sent to our design contractors who were able to create artwork which will allow the Club to utilise the badge as a centre piece of our 125 year anniversary.

“Further details on our plans to celebrate and commemorate our 125th year will be released as the year progresses.”
