Thanks to the generosity of Brentford fanzine Thorne in the Side, run by brothers Nick and Richard Hester, a war memorial has been erected in the concourse of The Bees United Stand, on the Braemar Road side of the ground.

The fanzine has funded the entire project so that the Club has a permanent memorial to six former Brentford footballers that have lost their life in both World Wars.

Sergeant Patrick Hagan, Sergeant George Littler, Private Henry George Purver, Private Horace Osborne Robotham, Sergeant Percy Kitchener Saunders and Private Ralph Shields all died in service to their country.

All had worn the red and white stripes of Brentford before their death.

It is expected that a formal unveiling will take place prior to next season.

The memorial is accessible during normal Club opening hours for supporters who want to come down and pay their respects.
