Brentford narrowly missed out on extending a Premier League record in the win over Aston Villa on Sunday. Brentford hold the record for having thier first ten home goals in the Premier League scored by different players. And if Mads Roerslev had scored Brentford's first on Sunday, that record would have been taken to 11.

When Bryan Mbeumo stroked home a last gasp penalty when Brentford beat Watford in December it not only gave The Bees three points, it broke a Premier League record. Mbeumo's goal gave The Bees a 2-1 victory after Pontus Jansson had equalised ten minutes earlier. That meant they were the ninth and tenth different players to score for The Bees at home this season, which is a Premier League first.

Brentford's first ten Premier League goals in our new stadium were all scored by different players. Sergi Canós and Christian Nørgaard were on target on the first night of the season as The Bees beat Arsenal before Ethan Pinnock, Vitaly Janelt and Wissa found the net in a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in September. Zanka and Rico Henry both scored in home defeats, to Leicester City and Norwich City respectively and Ivan Toney grabbed the only goal as The Bees beat Everton.

The record prior to Friday was jointly held by Liverpool and Wimbledon. Both did it in the first year of the Premier League, in 1992. Brentford have now gone one better. See the full story here.

In the closing stages of the first half of Brentford's win over Villa, Wissa scored his third Premier League goal and his second at home. In doing so, he became the first Brentford player to score twice in the Premier League at our new stadium. But the record was nearly extended

When Mads Roerslev scored the winner in the later stages on Sunday, it was his first goal for Brentford. It also meant he was the 11th Brentford player to score a home Premier League goal. If his goal had come earlier, it would have seen The Bees break further ground. The ten goals that set the record can be seen below.
