Brentford have signed Austrian central midfield player Konstantin Kerschbaumer from FC Admira Wacker Mödling for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old completed the move, subject to international clearance, after passing a medical late last week.
Konstantin has signed a four year contract and will remain at Griffin Park until June 2019. An Austrian youth international, Konstantin, who is 23 today, joined Admira in January.
He made a big impact in the Austrian top division – the Austrian Bundesliga – playing 16 games between 14 February and the end of the season, scoring once. Konstantin, who was on the books of SK Rapid Wien – better known as Rapid Vienna – as a youngster, played for SKN St. Pölten in the Europa League last season.
Marinus Dijkhuizen, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I am delighted that Konstantin has chosen to join us at Brentford.
“He is a box to box midfield player who I think will add versatility to our squad.
“I look forward to working with him in training and seeing him play in our upcoming pre-season friendly games.”
Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, said: “Konstantin was at Admira for a relatively short period, but in that time demonstrated that he is a talented player who can develop further.
“He is ambitious to play for the Austrian national team and we hope we can help him achieve this aim at Brentford.”
