Despite just missing out on clinching promotion and falling short in a Capital Cup final the women’s first team will be able to look back on the 2022/23 campaign with pride in what was a season where some unforgettable memories were made.

Brentford Women 8 UCL Academicals 1 – Capital Cup Second Round

The women’s first team’s biggest win of the season came in the third round of the Capital Cup at Bedfont Sports Club as Karleigh Osborne’s side put eight goals past UCL Academicals to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition. In what was the first fixture of 2023 Brentford Women showed unbelievable intensity in the opening stages of the game with the home side four goals up before the half-hour mark. A double hat-trick from Nikki Woods and Kirsty Matthews followed up two Chloe Logie strikes in a game where the Bees dominated from start to finish.

Denham United 1 Brentford Women 3 – Capital Cup semi-final

Brentford Women booked their place in the Capital Cup final after beating Denham United Ladies 3-1 back in March in what was a confident performance away from home from the Bees. The Women’s first team displayed their hunger for the victory throughout and battled any psychological problems they may have had following the 1-0 defeat to Denham at The Den just a few weeks prior. The away side flew out of the traps after the first whistle and went into half-time with a 1-0 lead courtesy of a Chloe Logie strike, the number nine pounced again early on in the second half before Wood’s effort sealed the win for Brentford Women.

Brentford Women 5 Woodley United Women 4 - Vitality Women’s FA Cup

The women’s first team secured their place in the Second Qualifying Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup following an incredible 5-4 win over Southern Region Women's Football League Division One North side Woodley United. In what was an action-packed game at Bedfont Sports Club, Brentford were forced to fight back from a goal down to secure an impressive win over a solid travelling Woodley team. Logie sealed her first of six hat-tricks for the season with Matthews and Sophie Troth also chipping in to ensure an important victory in what was a huge occasion for the side.

Brentford Women 4 Richmond Park 1 – Bedfont Sports Club attendance record

On Sunday 6 March 2022 Osborne’s team broke the all-time attendance record at Bedfont Sports Club when 1,010 fans watched on as Brentford Women beat Sport London E Benfica 7-2 at their home ground. A year later and the women’s first team broke the attendance record once again, this time taking on Richmond Park winning 4-1 with a massive 1,124 supporters at Bedfont Sports Club. Richmond turned up to ruin the party as they pounced on an early defensive error from Brentford to take the lead. The Bees soon fought back as Freya Worsley levelled the scoring with her first goal for the club. Logie proved her quality once again this time in front of a record crowd as she bagged another brilliant hat-trick allowing the home side to cruise to victory.

Brentford Women 4 Watford Ladies Development 2 – Gtech Community Stadium

The most memorable match of the season came on 13 November 2022 when Brentford Women played at the Gtech Community Stadium for the first time. The side broke another attendance record on the day as an incredible 5,116 supporters came to watch Osborne’s side, smashing the record for a tier-six women’s game. Similar to the game against Richmond the Bees found themselves a goal down but this time they weren’t able to pull one back before the break as the home side went into the interval losing 1-0. The side showed their resilience in the second half once again though, with goals from Logie, Matthews and a wonder strike from Eleonora Cottrell sealing the win on a historic day for Brentford Women.
