Brentford picked up their first win in the London South East Division One North on Sunday beating Denham United 3-2 at Bedfont Sports Club.

The Bees put on an impressive first half performance with Kirsty Matthews striking twice and Chloe Logie also netting in a half which saw Brentford dominate. Denham struck twice late into the second half, but Karleigh Osborne’s side showed their resilience as they defended well to see out an important win.

Osborne’s side made an electric start to the match with Brentford keen to stamp their authority early on.

Logie and Ashley Arquette saw their early attempts on goal saved well by the Denham keeper as the Bees implemented their high-press style of play in the opening stages.

It took Brentford until just after the half-hour mark in the first half to get themselves ahead and it was Matthews who opened up her account for the season.

Logie made it 2-0 on 39 minutes when the forward made an excellent far post run sliding to touch the ball into the back of the net following a brilliant pass from Nikki Woods.

Just before the referee was about to blow his whistle for half-time Brentford struck again and it was Matthews who was at it again.

An unbelievable run from Logie saw the striker beat three players before making her way into the box and finding Matthews with a neat pass. Matthews struck the ball first time finding the top corner with a superb strike capping off the perfect first half performance.

The Bees remained controlled in the second half and did well to see off some early Denham pressure.

The visitors did eventually find the net 10 minutes from time with Matthews deflecting a free-kick into the back of Brentford’s net.

Jenny Nagle’s goal for Denham on 84 minutes led to an interesting final few minutes but Brentford showed maturity in their defending as the side managed to see out their lead.
