Brentford came back from a goal down to beat Luton Town 3-1 in a pre-season fixture at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday.

Despite a bundle of opportunities to get themselves ahead in the opening half, Brentford found themselves going into the break a goal down as Luton stuck a minute before the interval. The Bees fought back in the second half to secure the win with goals from, Ashley Cheatley, Nikki Woods and Sophie Troth.

Brentford got off to a good start with defender Caroline Englehard making her first start for the side.

The new arrival nearly put Brentford ahead in the opening minutes of the game when she got on the end of a Nikki Woods corner, but her shot went just over the bar.

Brentford looked a threat from set pieces and came agonisingly close to opening the scoring when Chloe Logie latched on to a loose ball inside the box.

The striker swung a foot at the ball from close range, but the Luton keeper made a great save on the line.

Luton grew into the game in the opening half and were doing a good job in dealing with the home side’s attacks.

It was the visiting side who got the first goal of the game on the brink of half-time following a good header from their striker.

Moments the break the home side should have found themselves two goals down when the Luton forward took the ball past Graver only for her shot to go inches wide of the post.

It just wasn’t happening for Brentford in front of goal an hour in, Logie who has been firing this pre-season should have equalised for Karleigh Osborne’s side on the hour mark.

An excellent cross from Maddie Phillips found the striker but she was unable to get a strong enough contact on the ball as it was scuffed out of play.

Just after the hour mark Brentford were finally rewarded for their hard work as they got themselves on level terms through Cheatley.

The striker took the ball past the oncoming Luton keeper before passing the ball into an empty net levelling the score line.

The second half proved to be a tight contest with both side’s having chances on goal, it was Brentford who managed to take advantage of this on 75 minutes.

Substitute Lucy Bolitho made an impact off the bench with the striker playing through Woods who smashed her ball into the top right corner from inside the box.

Brentford grabbed a third before full-time and it was another substitute who was involved, this time Sophie Troth.

After the ball struck the bar, the midfielder was there to head home and ensure her side’s victory.
