Brentford Women beat Ascot United 5-0 in a spectacular performance at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday afternoon.
Four strikes from Chloe Logie and a corner kick goal from Nikki Woods saw Brentford put five past an Ascot United side who ply their trade in the division above the Bees as the team continue their work towards the 2023/24 season.
Brentford came into their second pre-season game against Ascot United with a more familiar starting line-up from their previous game as Freya Walker, Chloe Webb and Chloe Logie all returned to the first 11.
The home side made the perfect start as they found themselves ahead just 5 minutes into the game following a brilliant move.
New signing Ellen Wardlow linked up well with Woods as the host’s played their way up the pitch, the ball eventually found Jodie Reid who clipped an excellent pass over the Ascot defence to find Logie, with the striker confidently slotting home continuing her fine run of form from the 2022/23 season.
The home side were playing some good football in the first half with the new midfield pair of Nour Abdoul-Kheir, who was making her debut for the Bees, and Reid controlling the ball for the majority of the opening half as Brentford remained the dominant side following their early goal.

Logie came close to doubling Brentford’s lead on the brink of half-time after a goal-mouth scramble which was eventually cleared by an Ascot defender.
The number nine was replaced at half-time by Paula Holguin who was the second debutant of the day, and the forward nearly made an instant impact on 55 minutes but her shot from just outside the box went over the bar.
Karleigh Osborne made another four changes to his side in the second half as the head coach looked to give players valuable minutes with Sophie Troth, Freya Worsley, Maddie Heavingham-Ford and Ella Cottrell all introduced to the game.
The friendly allowed Osborne to make use of the roll on roll off substitutions with Logie being brought back into the game after the hour mark and grabbing her and Brentford’s second moments after.
The number nine followed up Cottrell’s powerful strike which was saved into the path of Logie who tapped home into an empty net to make it 2-0 on 66 minutes.
Logie, who finished last season on 36 goals, sealed her hat-trick just seven minutes later when she got on the end of a brilliant cross from Chloe Webb and tucked her effort into the back of the net from close range.
The Bees were playing some outstanding football and looked dangerous every time they went forward. On 81 minutes Woods made it 4-0 and grabbed her second goal of pre-season from a direct corner kick after her in-swinging cross curled over the Ascot keeper and sneaked in at the far post.

Osborne’s side were ruthless in front of goal and managed to score another just a minute from time as Logie tucked home her fourth of the day in what was an exceptional performance for the home team.
Karleigh Osborne’s thoughts
Osborne was delighted with what he saw from his team in their second pre-season fixture and feels he has a group of players who can go on to achieve great things in the up-and-coming season.
Speaking on the game, the head coach explained: “It was brilliant, we had a change of formation which allowed us to play with two strikers and the movement from that was fantastic, it is something we have been working on in training and it was amazing that it was on display so early in the game. I think we controlled the match from start to finish, following our first goal the game just flipped and I think we managed to take control really well and played some good stuff.”
Following the recent news that Logie will remain a Brentford player for the new season, the striker displayed once again her talents scoring four times on Sunday afternoon.
Talking on the number nine, Osborne said: “Logie is fantastic, she scored 36 times for us last season and I’m hoping we can get her more this season. I think playing with two strikers will help her as she won’t have to do as much work as she was doing and can concentrate on getting into better positions, helping her get more goals.”
Osborne and his side will return to Bedfont Sports Club on Wednesday night as they challenge themselves against National League side Maidenhead United in a 7:45pm kick-off.
“It will be a tough challenge, Maidenhead are a good team and they will be strong but I think if we keep moving in the right direction we’ll give ourselves a chance. We have played them before and it was a good game but I’m hoping we’ll be able to express ourselves more in this one and build confidence through this pre-season.”
