Brentford Women B made it 12 wins on the trot on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Actonians Thirds at Boddington Gardens Sports Ground.
Goals from Holly Hawkes and Lillie Elsbury saw the Bees continue their unbeaten run this season and progress to the third round of the JGMT Cup.
Head coach Tommy Ryan-Maynard made four changes to the side that beat AFC Leyton 5-1 last time out: Abi Claringbold, Aleksandra Dzikowska, Laura Miller and Orla McComb coming into the starting line-up.
The Bees wasted little time asserting their dominance, as they controlled possession during the first 10 minutes without being able to challenge the Actonians' keeper.
Brentford's best chance in the opening half came on 12 minutes; Claringbold's header falling into Hawkes' path, who cut inside and fired a low ball, but it was well saved by the home side's keeper.
Kasey Clifford almost scored the Bees' opener midway through the first 45 minutes as her corner hit the perfect spot at the back post before being cleared away by a goal-line header.
Ryan-Maynard's side continued to press for an opening goal as they dominated play. Clifford was in the action again on 40 minutes as she made a late run to the back post and caught Dzikowska's cross on the half-volley, however her shot hit the bar and was cleared away.
The Bees were rewarded for their hard work in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, Elsbury firing a long range shot that the Actonians keeper spilled, allowing Hawkes to pounce on the loose ball and find the back of the net for the opening goal.
Despite the home side going a goal down they continued to press for an equaliser; their best shot of the game flying just over the bar with 20 minutes to play.
They continued to dominate play following this chance, however some strong defending by the Bees helped keep the 1-0 lead intact.
Strong defending led to an 80th-minute winner from Elsbury, the defender intercepting the ball down the left side and using her pace to push into the box, before putting the ball in the top-right corner to make it 2-0.
Ryan-Maynard was pleased with his side's defensive efforts, however added that their play in the attacking third could be improved.
"We had a lot of opportunities in the game, just needed to work on that final pass and that final attacking movement, really," he said.
"Fair play to Actonians, they did have us on the back foot with 20 minutes to go... but the girls' character was great and overcame that and produced another good performance."
