Brentford Women 4 Richmond Park 1
The Bees began the month in record-breaking fashion as they beat the Bedfont Sports Club attendance record for the second year running when 1,124 supporters watched on as Karleigh Osborne’s side beat Richmond Park 4-1. The host’s found themselves a goal down on 15 minutes following an early Richmond strike but fought back just 10 minutes later as midfielder Freya Worsley scored her first goal for the club. Brentford dominated the ball and were rewarded for their possession just after the half-hour mark when top scorer Chloe Logie put her side ahead going into the break. Logie scored twice in the second-half to seal her fourth hat-trick of the season and wrap up what was a perfect day for Brentford Women in front of a huge crowd at Bedfont Sports Club.
Speaking on the game, Holmes said: “It was great for the club as a whole to have another event at Bedfont where we saw a record number of people come down to support us. The result topped the day off, first-half we came out a little slow but in the second-half we kicked on and killed the game.
“There is always going to be nerves in these types of matches but I think we now thrive in these situations because we really love to play in front of a big crowd. If anything, I think it helps us especially in difficult periods in games, the supporters push us on to keep going which always helps us in the end.”

Brentford Women 6 Sport London E Benfica 1
The women’s first team put on another tremendous attacking display in their second game of the month as they blew Sport London E Benfica away with a 6-1 victory which saw the side top the league table. Despite it taking Sophie Troth just four minutes to find the net it was an underwhelming first-half performance from the Bees with the two sides going into the break level at 1-1. Brentford Women and Logie flew out of the traps in the second-half with the striker scoring a 10-minute hat-trick before Jodie Reid grabbed her first of the season to put the game completely out of sight, sending a huge statement to the rest of the division with the massive win.
Talking on the emphatic victory, Holmes explained: “Karleigh wasn’t happy with how we performed in the first-half, after we got our early goal we slightly took our foot off the gas which led to them getting an equaliser. It’s important especially in this division to always try to push for more goals because you can get found out in games if you start sleeping so I’m glad we got ourselves together in the second-half, much like we did against Richmond.
“We obviously have an absolute gem in Logie she’s unbelievable for us and turns up every weekend so it’s incredible to play alongside her but we also have a lot of other attacking talents. When we are at it I’m almost certain that we are going to score three or four goals just because of how decisive we can be in the final third and the win against Sport London was a great example of that.”

Brentford Women 0 Dorking Wanderers 3
Brentford Women saw their seven-game unbeaten run come to an end following the defeat to Dorking Wanderers in the Capital Cup final. A positive first-half performance from the Bees saw the home side have the better of the chances with Dorking certainly the happier team going into the break level at 0-0. Three second-half goals from the visitors saw Brentford’s league title rivals leave Bedfont Sports Club with the Capital Cup trophy in a game where Osborne’s side can count themselves unfortunate to have lost by a three-goal margin.
Reflecting on the tough defeat, the captain said: “If I’m honest I think the result was quite flattering for Dorking, after their first goal early on in the second-half we had to go for it and I think they profited from that and managed to get a couple more. There were periods in the game where we had some unbelievable chances but it just wasn’t our day and the ball didn’t seem to want to go in the back of the net for us.
“I can’t take anything away from Dorking they were more clinical than us on the day and took their chances when they came to them. I think that’s their biggest strength and what makes them a good team, they score at the right times and have the ability to kill off games in a short period.”

Brentford Women 4 Dulwich Reserves 0
Osborne’s team showed their resilience not for the first time this season as they bounced back from the Capital Cup final defeat to win 4-0 in their next match against Dulwich Reserves. Retaining their place at the top of the league table the Bees got themselves 2-0- up within the opening 20 minutes with Jodie Reid assisting Chloe Logie twice to put Brentford ahead. The pair were on fire as Reid sealed a hat-trick of assists in the second-half finding Logie again with the striker extending her goal tally to an incredible 33 for the season. Eleonora Cottrell made an impact from the bench getting the final goal of the game ending what was a solid month for her side.
Looking back on the win, Holmes said: “I think this win just shows how much desire we have as a group, we put the cup final past us and we are now fully focused on the remaining league games. It’s great to see the players coming from the bench bringing something different to the game, Eleonora was excellent when she came on and helped us see out the win by adding another goal.
“We’re taking it week by week and we understand we can only control the games that we play in. Obviously we have our eye on the Dorking results as we need them to slip up even if we win our remaining games but I’m certain we will keep performing at a high level as we come to the end of the season.”
