Brentford Women’s Azza Fouly has been called up to the Egyptian national team for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the Under-20 World Cup qualifiers.

The Brentford shot stopper travelled back to Egypt on Sunday ahead of the U20's two friendlies against Morocco on Wednesday 6 September and Saturday 8 September.

Fouly will then link up with Egypt’s senior team for their two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Sudan on 20 September and 24 September, before playing two more times for the U20’s in World Cup qualifying games against Sao Tome, which will be played between 6-8 October and 13-15 October.

Fouly was previously named in Egypt’s U20’s squad back in March, but the keeper was unfortunately ruled out following a head injury which she picked up playing for the Bees against Hackney Women.

The Brentford no.1 has yet to feature for her side this season but recently returned to training after being sidelined for five months due to concussion.

Brentford head coach Karleigh Osborne says he is extremely proud of Fouly's achievement and feels it is well deserved.

He said: “Azza has been brilliant for us since her arrival last season, she made a real impact in our previous campaign and became an important part of the group right away.

“Everyone was gutted when she picked up a bad injury just before she was about to leave to play with Egypt’s U20s, so we are all over the moon that she has been given another opportunity.

“I’m sure she will do herself proud and we will all be supporting her back in England, it’s a very proud moment for everyone involved with Brentford Women.”
