Chloe Webb says it would be an ‘incredible feeling’ to break the Bedfont Sports Club attendance record once again on Sunday.
The first-team left-back has firm eyes on this weekend, as Brentford Women attempt to break the attendance record at the venue on Sunday for the second year running when they face Richmond Park at their home ground in a 3pm kick-off.
The 21-year-old has been a part of the women’s set-up for over a decade, making her one of Brentford Women’s longest-serving players. The defender began her journey through the Community Sports Trust where she worked her way through the ranks.
Now an important member of the women’s first team, the lifelong Brentford fan and loyal season ticket holder explained what the club means to her.
She said: “The club means so much to me, I’ve been here since I was a young girl and it’s been a dream to not only be a Brentford fan but to also represent the club as a player.
“Watching the men’s first team every week has been a huge inspiration, certainly in recent years, and it makes me feel proud to be a part of the Brentford family.
“To see the progress that has been made has been amazing, it’s a great feeling to know I was there right from the start and I’ll be forever grateful for the experiences I have had.”
Webb has been fortunate enough to be a part of some amazing occasions but points out last year’s 4-2 win over Watford Ladies Development at the Gtech Community Stadium as the stand-out moment in her time with the club.
It was a record-breaking day for Brentford Women at the Gtech Community Stadium
“I’ve had many proud moments as a Brentford Women’s player, I was lucky enough to play at Griffin Park a few times and even managed to score there which was an unbelievable feeling, but playing at the Gtech Community Stadium was something else.
"We were all taken back by the support we received that day, to compete with that many fans behind us is something I don’t think any of us will ever forget and breaking the attendance record for a sixth-tier women’s game just added to it.
“I feel the growing opportunities that have come our way over the past few years have been amazing but also well deserved.
"I can only thank the club for allowing us to develop and giving us the platform to inspire a younger generation of female footballers, as we are desperate to inspire the younger generation to get into football.”
This Sunday, Brentford Women look to make history once again as they attempt to break their home attendance record at Bedfont Sports Club currently set at 1,010.
The team, who are coached by former men’s first-team defender Karleigh Osborne sit second in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North with the title still all to play for.
Webb continued: “It’s been a good season for us so far, we have performed well in the league and remain in the race for the title, we also have a Capital Cup final to look forward to on April 23.
Webb vs Sutton United
“Our goal at the beginning of the season was to get promoted and, in such a competitive league, it’s important for us to win every game - this is what we will be aiming to do on Sunday.”
Following last November’s match at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford Women have experienced a rise in their home support, and Webb explains what it would mean if her team were able to break another attendance record this weekend.
She continued: “It would be an incredible feeling if we were able to beat last season’s Bedfont Sports Club record and would mean so much to the team and all the staff.
“It’s another great chance for us as a club to show how far we have come, not only on the pitch but off it as well, and everyone’s support would be massively appreciated.
“The match is set to be another big spectacle and I’m sure it will be a great day for everyone involved so why not come down and show your support for us as we look to make history once more?”
