Brentford Women aim to continue their fine run of form away from home as they face Hackney Women in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday at the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre in a 2pm kick-off.

With the Bees now just a point off league leaders Clapton Community following last week’s impressive 2-0 win, head coach Karleigh Osborne is feeling confident ahead of another trip to East London.

Speaking on Sunday, Osborne said: “It will be another challenge for us on the weekend, Hackney are a difficult team to play against but I’m looking to see the same resilience that I saw in the Clapton game.

“We are playing with so much quality recently so if we can continue this I feel that we will put ourselves in a good place to come out with another three points.”

The first team displayed one of the performances of the season last Sunday when they comfortably beat title rivals Clapton, with Nikki Saunders and Chloe Logie on target for the travelling Bees.

Osborne was left over the moon after the result and singles out how focused his side remained despite the loud atmosphere as one of the things that impressed him the most.

“Clapton always have great support and always make it a tough environment to play against, but I was proud of how the team didn’t let this affect their game at all.

“We were dominant from start to finish and I thought we showed the difference in class if I’m honest, we dealt with everything they had and then showed how dangerous we are.”

Last time we met

It was an even affair between the two sides in the reverse fixture back in October with Hackney proving to be hard to break down. Brentford left it late to seal the 1-0 victory when debutant Orla McComb scored a last-minute goal to ensure the win for her side after a hard-fought game.

Our B team also take a trip to the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre where they take on Hackney Reserves in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North in a 2pm kick-off.

The women’s side are also coming off the back of an impressive result after they put nine past Tower Hamlets Women last weekend in an outstanding performance as they continue their hunt for promotion.

Head Coach Tommy Ryan-Maynard believes his side are continuing to improve as we head towards the final stretch of the season.

Talking on his team’s recent performances, Ryan Maynard said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the players in action again, we’re in great form at the moment keeping two clean sheets back-to-back which I’m really pleased with.

“We’re also scoring and creating a lot of chances so I’m hoping that can carry on as we head into this weekend against Hackney.”

Ryan-Maynard went on to explain how happy he was following last Sunday’s result where his side showed their quality once again.

“That second-half performance last weekend was one of the best halves of football I’ve seen us play, the way we moved the ball and stopped Tower Hamlets from gaining any type of foothold in the game was excellent.

“It’s pleasing to see the players take things we are learning in training into games, the development they have shown over this season has been fantastic, I just hope we can keep performing to such a high level.”
