Brian Riemer has left Brentford Football Club and been appointed as the new head coach of RSC Anderlecht.

Riemer has been Brentford's assistant head coach for just over four years. He completed the switch to Anderlecht, 34-time champions of Belgium, today, Friday 2 December.

Riemer joined the Bees from FC Copenhagen in October 2018, a few days after Thomas Frank took on the head coach role.

He had been in charge of the under-19 side at Copenhagen since the summer of 2015.

He spent the three years before that as assistant manager at the club, having worked in the youth department since 2008.

He had previously worked in the same youth development position at Hvidovre IF. This will be his first head coach role at senior level.

Riemer has been part of a very successful period at Brentford. The Bees finished third in the Sky Bet Championship in consecutive seasons – 2019/20 and 2020/21 – winning promotion in the second of those years.

After winning the Championship play-off final in 2021, Brentford maintained Premier League status last season.

Riemer’s four years at the Club have also included runs to the quarter-final and semi-final of the Carabao Cup, as well as a 13th-place finish in the Premier League last season. That campaign has only been bettered three times in Brentford’s history.
