Former Brentford FC Coach Brian Sparrow has died at the age of 57. Brian was part of the coaching staff at the Club around the turn of the century and spent two years in West London. He died on Friday, 6 December, and the condolences of all at Brentford FC are sent to his family and friends.

Brian had a playing career that started at Arsenal, where he came through the youth ranks, and included three years at Crystal Palace. He also played for Wimbledon, Gillingham and Millwall among others before moving in to non-league football, most notably with Enfield. He then moved in to coaching, a switch that brought him to Brentford.

Brian was signed for Palace by Steve Coppell in 1984 and worked as a youth coach at the South London side before a move to Brentford in 1998. He was part of the coaching staff put together by former Owner and Manager Ron Noades and spent two years with The Bees. He was on the staff when Brentford won the Division Three championship in 1999 and left to re-join Palace a year later, working again with Steve Coppell.

Brian also had two spells managing Crawley Town, prior to their promotion to the EFL, and worked in China. He also had a spell coaching with Wimbledon and managed Croydon Athletic. After leaving football, he worked as a sports consultant.
