Bryan Mbeumo joined us to talk about his role in today's 1-2 defeat to VfB Stuttgart in Germany. He scored a first-half goal as The Bees lost narrowly to the Bundesliga side in sweltering Friedrichshafen.

The Frenchman opened the scoring after just 12 minutes, applying the finish to a sweeping team move that started at the back and ended when Mathias Jensen found Mbeumo to slot beneath the keeper.

"I am happy with these two goals," Bryan told us, speaking after the final whistle at Zeppelinstadion. "I'm confident and I just tried to help the team to a win today, as always. Yes, I'm very happy and I want to keep going and keep working.

Bryan Mbeumo heads beyond a Stuttgart defender

"It was a tough game, Stuttgart were well prepared - they went with a strong team. We did a lot of good things, there were things to work on. We did well in the end."

The game was played under blazing sunshine in extreme heat, which is something Bryan thinks had an impact on the match. He was also pleased to have some fresh faces around him in the team, including people missing through loan spells or injury last season.

"The weather does have an impact of course, it's very hot. It was a very tough game and we all feel tired now. It's been a good week, we have worked hard and this was just another test of that.

"It is really good to have some new faces because you develop new relationships and see the guys who have been away. We all have a good time but also on the pitch you get players like Josh [Dasilva] who is someone you can combine with and he understands each game of football very well."

The tour of Germany is now over halfway through and the players have been putting in some serious minutes down on the training pitch at SV Aasen. Bryan is keen to stress that it has been enjoyable as well as useful for the season ahead.

"It's been very good, I've been having fun here. We have been working very hard, we still have a few more days here so we'll keep pushing and working for the next game on Tuesday.

"In pre-season you want to have as many minutes on the pitch as possible, you want good feelings with your teammates. It needs to be automatic when you are playing in a game during the real season. So, we keep working."
