Chris Haslam has left his position as Head of Conditioning at Brentford Football Club.

Tom Perryman, who has been working alongside Chris, will be joined by James Purdue as a two-man conditioning team for the First Team.

James has been working in the Club’s Academy as the Conditioning Coach, having joined Brentford from Reading in 2011.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “I first worked with Chris when I was at Watford and he was an intern.

“I have taken much pleasure in watching his career development over the last seven years, he has performed outstandingly well for the club.

“He wanted to move on to take a new challenge and we wish him the very best of luck with it.

“However, such departures serve to illustrate our strength in depth from a staffing perspective.

“James Purdue will now step up to work alongside Tom Perryman in overseeing the conditioning requirements of the First Team squad.

“This is a great chance for James and I know he is good enough.

“I have seen already in training that Tom and James will be a good team.

“The players have trained well and reacted well to them and I have no doubt the good work done over the past few years will continue.

“I would like to thank our Academy Director Ose Aibangee for allowing James to step in so quickly.

“It is a testament to the work being done in the Academy that we have First Team staff in waiting.

“There is no need for us to look elsewhere when we have such quality in the ranks, and it is important that potential and talent is given opportunity.

“I hope very much that everyone involved with our football department recognises that hard work appropriately applied is rewarded at Brentford Football Club.

“Head of Medical Neil Greig and First Team Physiotherapist Daryl Martin will work alongside James and Tom.

“Neil and Daryl have done a great job, with the conditioning team, in making sure we have as many players available for every game as possible and I am sure this will continue.”
