After two incidents of pyrotechnics being thrown onto the pitch at Brentford’s match against Fulham last Monday, the club would like to remind all supporters that anyone found in possession or using these devices faces a club ban and will be reported to the police.
At the start of the season, football authorities introduced new measures and stronger sanctions across the game to tackle anti-social and criminal behaviours including entering the pitch without permission, use of pyrotechnics, throwing missiles, drug use and discriminatory behaviour.
Pyrotechnics, including flares, smoke bombs and fireworks can cause serious injuries such as burns and breathing problems, alongside damage to hands, hearing, lungs and eyes. They can also cause damage to grounds and surroundings. Pyrotechnics delay matches, creating disruption for staff, players and spectators.
Bringing pyrotechnics into the Gtech Community Stadium is illegal and there are consequences for anybody who breaks the law and ground regulations.
Anyone caught in possession of or using pyrotechnics will be reported to the police and prosecution could result in a permanent criminal record.
Our pitch must remain safe for players, managers and match officials, just as the stands should be for supporters.
Following the incidents at our fixture against Fulham, two individuals were identified on CCTV for throwing a missile and possessing a flare.
Both individuals are currently under investigation by the police and will also face sanctions from the club.
