Brentford has received a gold award at the 2024 Sports Business Awards for its work in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) since the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

This is the second award the club has received for its EDI programme in 2024 after success at the Football Business Awards in May.

The award recognises our efforts to ensure that EDI is embedded throughout Brentford.

Our work aims to bring people together in ways that support positive change, makes people feel valued and improves the lived and inclusive experience of our players, staff, fans and community.

Equity and inclusion director Kaammini Chanrai, who accepted the award at a ceremony in central London, said: “We're honoured to have our EDI work recognised for success in multiple areas. This is a testament to the power of the collective at Brentford and shows just how much we can achieve with active and engaged support from players, fans and staff.

“Achieving impact in this space is not easy, but this is only the beginning for us. Thank you to our fans for giving us instructive feedback and continually holding us to a high standard.”

The Sports Business Awards recognise and reward achievement by the teams behind the scenes that facilitate sporting excellence and endeavours. The judging panel is made up of sport and event industry leaders, influencers and CEOs.

The judges congratulated Brentford for our efforts in this field and added that “the strategic, full-club approach to EDI is fully embedded, systematic and authentic.”
