Last month Brentford midfield player Alan McCormack had a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official found proven at an FA Independent Regulatory Hearing. This was judged as an aggravated breach as it included a reference to gender.
The Club has now received and reviewed the written reasons for the judgement and accepts the findings and FA's disciplinary sanctions. Neither the Club nor the player will appeal.
The Club strongly condemns any form of discrimination and will continue to emphasise this will not be tolerated from anybody connected with the Club. This ongoing process will remain confidential.
While fully accepting the findings of the disciplinary hearing, the Club is concerned at the length of time the FA has taken to resolve this matter. It comes soon after another FA investigation involving a Brentford First Team player took more than nine months to complete.
Alan is disappointed with the outcome but accepts the decision of the panel and is fully committed to making a significant contribution, both on and off the pitch, for the remainder of the season.
Neither the Club nor the player will be making any further comment.
