At today’s game between Brentford and Newcastle United we will be celebrating the work of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust which spans more than three decades.
The Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community, using the power of sport to educate, motivate and inspire people from all backgrounds.
Working closely with Brentford FC, the Trust delivers a range of programmes in education, employability, sports participation, health and community engagement.
From participants to local schools and fundraisers, during the day supporters will hear different stories covering the breadth of the Trust's impact.
Fundraising for the Trust, Ben Brownscombe will be at the Gtech Community Stadium this afternoon. Ben has been a lifelong Bees supporter and, in a few weeks, he will run the London Marathon on behalf of the Trust. London will be Ben’s first-ever marathon and we wish him the best of luck.
The support from the Premier League providing investment in communities and facilities at a local level has had a positive impact on many participants the Trust works with. As part of the Premier League supports campaign running across the weekend, we will be presenting Demi Gardner as One of Our Own during half-time of the Newcastle game.
The Trust began working with Demi through the Premier League Primary Stars Programme in September 2022. Since the Trust have been working with Demi, there have been noticeable positive changes in her attitude to others both in team sports and the classroom. She is now a positive and encouraging team-mate and a keen participant in class.
Demi is a shining example of how the Trust uses football and sport as the hook, but they are not always the sole outcome. It is about much more than that. The Trust is committed to helping every individual to ‘realise their potential through inspiration, innovation and inclusion.’
