Following the success of previous events, this weekend, free heart screenings have been organised for young Brentford fans in memory of the club’s former technical director, Robert Rowan.

Brentford fans aged between 14 and 35 have been invited to book one of 200 places to undergo a cardiac screening session, which will take place at the Community Stadium Hub, located next to the Gtech Community Stadium this weekend.

The screenings will be provided by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and organised in partnership with Robert Rowan’s wife, Suzanne Rowan. CRY's mission is to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families.

CRY is one of several organisations working with the club in our long-term partnership, Heart of West of London which aims to use the power of sport and our collective voice to improve cardiac health in the local community and beyond.

Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. In 80% of cases of young sudden cardiac death, there are no prior symptoms of a heart defect.

At a cardiac screening, individuals will receive an electrocardiogram (ECG), a simple, non-invasive and painless test that only takes a few minutes to complete and is performed by qualified cardiac physiologists. CRY’s mission is to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths.

If you were unable to book a place but are interested in future heart screening opportunities in Brentford, please complete this form. You can also visit testmyheart.org.uk to check for screenings in your area.
