Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe made a special trip to Nyon last week. The teenager was invited to represent England at the draw for the qualifying rounds of the UEFA European Under-19 Championships for the 2019/20 season. The finals will be held in Northern Ireland next summer and Ellery conducted the draw that showed the continent’s nations the route to the finals.
Ellery was also on site to collect an award. The 19-year-old was part of the England team at the Under-19 Championships in Finland last summer. England won the Fair Play Award at that tournament and Ellery was invited to collect it at the draw. Ellery played every game at that event, part of the 14 games he has played for his country in total at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level. The full story can be seen here.
