Brentford will take on Ligue 1 side Lille in a pre-season friendly at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 5 August in a 4pm kick-off.

The Bees will take on the French side a week before the first game of the Premier League season against Tottenham, as Thomas Frank's side finalise their preparations for the 2023/24 campaign.

Ticket details will be confirmed in due course.

Lille finished the 2022/23 campaign in fifth and reached the Coupe de France round of 16 under the stewardship of former Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma boss Paulo Fonseca.

The French side have won the top-flight title four times, including as recently as 2021, when they pipped Paris Saint-Germain to the title.

This fixture comes shortly after the Premier League Summer Series in the USA, with Brentford one of six clubs travelling to take part in matches and events in five major east coast cities.

The Bees’ first game is against west London rivals Fulham at the same venue on Sunday 23 July. Frank’s side also have fixtures against Brighton (Wednesday 26 July, Atlanta) and Aston Villa (Sunday 30 July, Landover).

Before all that, Brentford's pre-season begins with a trip to Boreham Wood. The game will be played at Meadow Park on Wednesday 12 July (7.30pm kick-off).
