Jayden Meghoma has joined Championship side Preston North End on loan until the end of the season.

The left-back made his Brentford debut against Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup in September, before coming on for his Premier League debut as a late substitute against Chelsea in December.

The 18-year-old has since featured in further cup games against Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United, as well as making several appearances for the B team.

Paul Heckingbottom’s Preston currently sit 15th in the second tier.

Phil Giles, Brentford director of football, said: "This is a great opportunity for Jayden to play in a good club and at a very good level to continue his ongoing development.

"We all see Jayden as being a fantastic player for Brentford in the future, and the chance to play a significant number of minutes in the Championship is all part of that longer-term plan.

"Jayden was also keen to take this opportunity, so we will follow him closely and welcome him back for pre-season in the summer."

Having been part of Tottenham’s academy, Meghoma signed his first professional contract with Southampton in July 2023 and made his debut for them the following month in a Carabao Cup defeat to Gillingham.

He made a further three appearances for the Saints last season, all in the Emirates FA Cup.

Meghoma has represented England up to under-19 level and was part of the under-18 squad that lifted the Pinatar Super Cup in Spain in March 2024.

The full-back signed for Brentford on Deadline Day of the 2024 summer transfer window.
