Full-back Jayden Meghoma has completed a transfer from Southampton.
The defender has signed a four-year contract with Brentford, and the club retains an option to extend the deal by an additional two years.
Meghoma is Brentford’s fifth first-team signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Igor Thiago, Fábio Carvalho, Sepp van den Berg and Gustavo Nunes.
“I’m very pleased with this signing,” said head coach Thomas Frank.
“Jayden is an England youth international and one of the biggest left-back talents this country has.
“Again, we had competition from other clubs, so we are definitely doing something right.
“I like Jayden’s offensive ability - he is quick, has good one-on-one skill and can cross – and he has good defensive ability as well. He is adaptable and can play outside or inside full-back.
“There is still a lot he can learn, but Jayden is a player we have big belief in. He can help us this season and in the future.”
Meghoma signed his first professional contract with Southampton in July 2023 and made his first-team debut the following month in a Carabao Cup defeat to Gillingham.
He made a further three appearances for the Saints last season, all in the Emirates FA Cup.
Meghoma has represented England up to under-18 level and was part of the squad that lifted the Pinatar Super Cup in Spain earlier this year.
He has been named in England’s under-19 group to take on Italy, Croatia and Germany in international matches next month.
