Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has revealed the extent of the injury Kristoffer Ajer picked up in the Bees' defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Ajer had been out for seven games with a foot injury before he returned to the starting XI against Forest - however, Frank revealed the defender will now be unavailable again.

The Bees boss began: "On the injury situation, Ethan [Pinnock] is the same as last week: it's a bigger one, it'll be weeks with a hamstring injury.

"Sepp van den Berg is minor but it's going to be too short a turnaround for Brighton... let's see for Arsenal."

"Kristoffer Ajer went off injured and, unfortunately, picked up an ankle injury. It's a similar one to the Yoane Wissa earlier this season and Ethan Pinnock's last season. [Ajer] will also be out for weeks.

"Mathias Jensen is positive, he's getting closer, but, again, that will be too short for Brighton."

He added: "[Mads] Roerslev was a precaution, he's ready again.

"[Igor] Thiago still has the joint infection. I don't know exactly a time frame... but it'll be weeks."

On how he feels about the increase in injuries, Frank stated: "Let's put it this way, I've got a very strong starting XI on the sideline! With the players out, it's a very strong team.

"But it's a part of football, we have to deal with it.

"Some of you must have seen the footage of Kristoffer Ajer's injury and how unlucky he has been with that and the way Callum Hudson-Odoi landed on him - you can't do much with that.

"So we've just been unlucky with injuries again. The thing we would need to look into is if we had too many hamstring or soft-tissue injuries - that could be an issue or something we could do better. But all that is good.

"The big thing is how we can turn them around quick, and that's what we're working on."

Gustavo Nunes (back), Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (hamstring) and Josh Dasilva (knee) remain sidelined.
