Ryan Trevitt has signed a new three-year contract with Brentford, with a club option for an additional year.
The midfielder has also joined Sky Bet League One side Exeter City on loan for the 2023/24 campaign.
Trevitt joined Brentford midway through the 2020/21 season as part of the B-team set-up and established himself as one of Neil MacFarlane’s key players.
He was responsible for 27 goal contributions last term (16 goals, 11 assists) and netted in the the Premier League Cup final on 9 May to help the B team lift the trophy with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.
Trevitt made his first-team debut in August 2022 as the Bees faced Colchester United in the Carabao Cup, and he also featured against West Ham United in the Emirates FA Cup in January this year.
Trevitt was rewarded for his fine form with a promotion to Thomas Frank’s first-team squad in June, and will now continue his development with an Exeter side that finished 14th in League One last season.
Head coach Thomas Frank said: “Since arriving from Leatherhead at the end of 2020, Ryan has been a fantastic example for our B-team project.
“His development has been so impressive and his promotion to the first-team squad earlier this summer was very much deserved, as is this new contract.
“Ryan has a very exciting future ahead of him. He’s a flexible player who can play in a lot of positions. The foundation is there with his defensive work, he has good technique and makes clever decisions.
“Besides all his very good football abilities he also has a phenomenal mindset and work ethic.
“It’s a great opportunity for Ryan to play in League One with Exeter. He is ready for this loan move.”
