Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has stated that he expects the Bees to be active in the January transfer window.
Speaking ahead of Friday's FA Cup clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Frank discussed the potential business that his side may do this month.
Defender Rico Henry is one of several players who are out with long-term injuries, and the Bees boss stated that left-back could be one position that the west Londoners could look to strengthen.
Frank revealed: “I'm convinced that we will be active in the market. How much? Which position? Let's see.
“I expect that we will be active, and I think it's pretty clear that we, most likely, need a left-back.”
Ivan Toney has also been the subject of plenty of transfer talk since the window opened on 1 January, but Frank is confident that the centre-forward will still be at the club when it closes come the end of the month.
Toney scored 20 goals last season and finished as the third-top goalscorer in the Premier League, just behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, which prompted links to numerous clubs since the start of the current campaign.
But, ahead of his return to the Bees squad for the Nottingham Forest game on 20 January, upon the conclusion of his ban, the Brentford head coach is confident that Toney won't be on the move this month.
Frank said: “He's a Brentford player, he's here. Clearly, we have missed a few offensive players and I can't see why we should sell him. I would love to have him here for a long time.”
He added: “If I could ever, ever, ever recommend something, and it's not for me to say 'yes' or 'no', that's up to Phil [Giles] and Matthew [Benham], I would say it needs to be an unbelievable price."
