Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has confirmed that midfielder Christian Norgaard will miss the Bees' clash with Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The Denmark international came off at half-time during the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last weekend and was replaced by Frank Onyeka.

And Frank has confirmed that the club's vice-captain will miss the trip across west London to face the Blues at Stamford Bridge with an Achilles problem - something which saw him sidelined earlier this campaign.

"Christian will not be available. He's got some issues with his Achilles that they're trying to get on top of," Frank explained.

When asked if he knew how long Norgaard may be out for, he added: "No. I just look at the first game we need to prepare for and he's out for that game, then we'll see. It's not a definite of how long it will be."

There was some more positive news regarding Kevin Schade, however, who will be in the squad for Wednesday's game.

The German forward was substituted during the draw with Aston Villa, but Frank confirmed that it was purely fatigue that saw him forced off.

"He's available for tomorrow - it was cramp, just fatigue," the Bees head coach said.

"As I said before, for me, it was his best performance in a Brentford shirt, very pleased with that.

"We knew, when he came from Freiburg, that we had to build him to play with an even higher intensity because he hasn't played that much senior football in his career.

"He's working very hard to get to that level."

Some more positive news from Frank was that Kristoffer Ajer has returned to full training, but the clash with Chelsea will come slightly too soon for him to make the squad.

Goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who didn't make the squad for the Villa game, will also miss the game at Stamford Bridge with a minor calf strain.
