Brentford has teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.
Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.
Best of the Bees
Despite a disappointing result in the midweek fixtures, Mikkel Damsgaard’s (£5.0m) added to his goal tally in Gameweek 14. His cross was flicked on by Yoane Wissa (£6.2m), then Kevin Schade (£5.1m), before the Dane smartly shifted the ball inside and fired high into the net. It puts him on six FPL goal involvements from the last eight outings. Schade was credited with the Fantasy assist.
This season Bryan Mbeumo (£7.7m) continues to be the highest-scoring Brentford asset in FPL. Mbeumo has returned 83 points this season. Only Mo Salah (£13.2m), Cole Palmer (£11.0m), Bukayo Saka (£10.4m) and Erling Haaland (£15.0m) have registered more points to date.
Despite missing three matches through injury, Wissa is also in the top 15 points scorers this season. His 66 points are more than the likes of Virgil Van Dijk (£6.4m), Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) and Alexander Isak (£8.4m).
The Spotlight
Considering Brentford have seven matches over the next four weeks, in all competitions, summer signing Igor Thiago (£5.9m) is being eased into action at the right time.
Having recovered from a knee injury suffered in his pre-season debut at AFC Wimbledon, he’s played around 25 minutes on three consecutive occasions.
The Bees are the league’s third-highest scorers so far and adding a forward who netted 29 times for Club Brugge last season should increase the attacking threat even further. He had one chance against Aston Villa, but blazed just over after Mbuemo’s through ball.
Whether he’s fighting Wissa for a starting spot or playing alongside him, the Europa Conference League’s Young Player of 2023/24 is currently owned by just 2,812 FPL managers out of 10.8 million. Once Thiago starts, he’ll be a huge differential pick.
Best of the Rest
Elsewhere, we saw yet another gigantic Salah haul against Newcastle. He was looking fairly subdued by his usual standards at Newcastle. However, his form always means that points feel inevitable. Salah registered two goals and an assist and returned 18 points - his fourth double-digit score in a row and 10th from 14.
Isak and Jurrien Timber (£5.6m) also returned big points hauls for their managers. However, the predicted chaos of squad rotations during December’s hectic schedule saw Nicolas Jackson (£8.2m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£6.9m), Rico Lewis (£4.7m) and Robert Sanchez (£4.8m) benched.
Arsenal’s Gabriel (£6.2m) wasn’t risked after recent knocks, but centre-back partner William Saliba (£6.0m) scored for the first time this season. That and a clean sheet gave him 15 points.
In Demand
Although he blanked during Arsenal’s 2-0 win, Saka is, at the time of writing, edging ahead of Salah when it comes to pre-Gameweek 15 transfers.
Managers have until 11am on Saturday to lock in their squads.
Meanwhile, sales forced Newcastle’s Isak into a Wednesday morning price drop - but he’s now one of the most popular purchases. Clashes with Leicester and Ipswich are on the horizon.
Captaincy
It’s getting almost impossible to opt against Salah, even if Saturday involves an away derby against Everton in the dreaded lunchtime spot.
For those who traditionally don’t like captaining in the first match, other options include Saka versus Fulham, João Pedro (£5.8m) against Ipswich, and possibly even Jackson, as he hopes to repeat the hat-trick from last season’s memorably bizarre 4-1 win at Tottenham.
