Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

Thomas Frank’s side registered their first away win of 2024/25 last time out in the Premier League, doing so in style by racking up 11 big chances and 10 shots on target against Southampton.

Kevin Schade (£5.1m), Keane Lewis-Potter (£5.0m), Yoane Wissa (£6.2m) and Mikkel Damsgaard (£5.0m) were brilliant, but one attacker dominated enough to become the Gameweek’s highest scorer with 19 points – Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m).

Mbeumo’s second-half brace came alongside five chances created, one of which produced an assist.

No midfielder has played more minutes, whilst recent strikes have shown that he is arguably fixture-proof. Mbeumo is also the joint league leader for home goals with nine this season.

The midfielder's appeal in FPL is strengthened as he has multiple routes to points, thanks to being Brentford’s penalty taker and his set-piece threat.

It wasn’t just the attack who impressed against Southampton. The defence all kept a clean sheet, but a special mention is deserved for Sepp van den Berg (£4.1m).

The defender registered a 10-point haul for his FPL managers on the back of a clean sheet, an assist and a bonus point. He was also unlucky not to register more points as he saw a goal chalked off by VAR.

The Spotlight

Wissa contributed a goal, an assist and two bonus points in Gameweek 20. The forward registered 11 points for his owners and he certainly deserved it. In fact, Wissa was unlucky not to have added a further goal to his tally against Southampton.

Last Saturday afternoon saw Wissa become the third player to achieve an incredible eight shots in one match this season. For FPL managers struggling to afford Mbeumo, Wissa could be a good alternative at a cheaper price point.

Mbeumo and Wissa have similar stats with the latter edging the numbers for shots (37 v 35) and big chances (17 v 12). However, if managers can afford to own both, the attacking double-up could be the way to go.

Wissa netted in the reverse meeting with Tuesday night's opponents Manchester City but came off at half-time with an ankle injury that sidelined him for several matches.

Best of the Rest

Mbeumo’s tally was far ahead of the next-best 13 points of Savinho (£6.5m), Erling Haaland (£14.8m) and Raúl Jiménez (£5.7m).

The champions have registered consecutive wins, after previously just recording one victory in 13 matches. Their Brazilian winger bagged three assists against West Ham, two of which were for Haaland.

Fulham’s Jiménez also scored two, both from the penalty spot, in a 2-2 draw against Ipswich.

In Demand

Newcastle trio Anthony Gordon (£7.5m), Lewis Hall (£4.9m) and Alexander Isak (£9.3m) lead the way for the most transfers ahead of Gameweek 21, just ahead of Brentford’s very own Mbeumo.

The Magpies’ backline has conceded only once in their five matches since losing to Brentford, racking up away wins at Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal in the past fortnight.

Hall is contributing assists from defence, while Gordon has an attacking return in each of his latest seven league starts.

On the other hand, plenty of managers are selling Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson (£8.1m) after a series of blanks and Tottenham’s James Maddison (£7.6m), who has started a number of games recently from the bench.

Captaincy

Last week was a rare occasion where Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) was outdone by the likes of Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer (£11.4m). In fact, he isn’t the obvious captain away to high-flying Nottingham Forest either - not with their resolute defence.

Alexander Isak is likely to be heavily captained at home to Wolves. He’s scored in seven successive matches, helping his team to some unbelievable form.
