Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

Yoane Wissa (£6.5m) had three efforts on goal in Gameweek 28 which unfortunately just couldn’t find a way past Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen (£4.5m).

Wissa also set up a second-half Keane Lewis-Potter (£5.0m) attempt that struck the post, which meant his FPL owners were incredibly unlucky not to see a return.

Kevin Schade (£5.1m) had some bright moments, too, and at the other end, Mark Flekken (£4.4m) made enough saves to secure an extra point, meaning he delivered a score of three.

Blank Gameweek 29 is an interesting time in FPL, as numerous well-owned assets from Liverpool, Newcastle, Villa and Crystal Palace aren’t taking part.

However, the Bees will be involved with a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

The Spotlight

With many budget-friendly midfielders such as Morgan Rogers (£5.5m) and Jacob Murphy (£5.0m) not playing, Amad Diallo (£5.3m) injured and Dango Ouattara (£5.1m) seemingly moved to the bench, many FPL managers will be looking for an attacking replacement at this price point.

Mikkel Damsgaard’s (£5.1m) creativity has gone completely under the radar, owned by just 1.9% of the game.

Since Gameweek 20, only the incredible Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) has created more chances (26).

It’s the 24-year-old’s first season of serious Premier League game time, though the 829 minutes he got during 2023/24 was still enough time for him to set up four goals.

Back to Salah, he’s the single player to have more traditional assists than Damsgaard’s 10.

Although the addition of Fantasy assists – given when someone is fouled for a scored free-kick or penalty, or their shot leads to a rebound – sees Bukayo Saka (£10.2m) and Son Heung-min (£9.7m) overtake him.

Still, these three are far more expensive than the Dane. He’s having a superb campaign.

Best of the Rest

Liverpool’s superstar was the most captained individual among active FPL managers, as he was at home to Southampton.

It eventually paid off after an early scare – Salah’s pair of penalties ensured he was Gameweek 28’s joint-top scorer on 15 points alongside Marc Cucurella (£5.2m).

Furthermore, it means the Egyptian has already broken the all-time FPL points record set by himself in 2017/18. We’re only in mid-March.

Elsewhere, a nine-game goalless Ismaïla Sarr (£5.6m) run ended with a brace in Gameweek 27 and another strike on Saturday against Ipswich.

Like Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães (£6.1m), he scored the sole goal in a 1-0 win to bring in 11 points.

In Demand

The big captaincy decision hinged on penalties, as Salah’s two successful spot-kicks were countered by Cole Palmer (£10.9m) missing one. Chelsea's main man registered just four points from consecutive home matches against the bottom two.

Palmer plays in Blank Gameweek 29 but it’s away at Arsenal and the only player with more sales this week is Lewis Hall (£4.9m), an injured defender whose season is over.

As for purchases, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) has two goals, two assists and 29 points from his last three outings, and is about to visit Leicester.

Meanwhile, three of the five most-bought players belong to Nottingham Forest: Chris Wood (£7.3m), Ola Aina (£5.3m) and Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.5m).

Captaincy

On a week where Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak (£9.4m) aren’t participating and Palmer has a tricky-looking trip across London, this is very much a time to think outside of the box with captaincy.

Bruno Fernandes and Chris Wood look set to be the leading armband candidates, as they face sides in the relegation zone.

But there’s also Erling Haaland (£14.7m), back in form with seven goals and two assists in nine league matches. The chance to have this FPL monster as a differential captain could be hard to resist.
