Brentford fans and the Trust staff laced up their running shoes last weekend and took part in the iconic Royal Parks half marathon in central London. The sporting event - held on Sunday, 13 October - saw runners raise more than £1,000 for the Trust’s vital community projects. The Royal Parks Half Marathon, now in its 12th year, takes in some of the city’s most famous landmarks and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.
For local Brentford fan Tony Griffiths this was his second time running the half marathon for our Trust. Speaking about the experience, he said: “Running the Royal Parks Half this year was a great chance to give something back to the Trust’s efforts around our local patch. I think they put on an impressive range of important community programmes!
“They run a fantastic girls’ football programme that my daughter is involved with and most recently they helped organise a river clean up along the River Thames. They’re a great organisation to support and I hope there’s more we can do together in the future!”
The Royal Parks Half Marathon is part of a number fundraising activities at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust. Last year, a Brentford fan took part in the London Marathon for the first time and Ruth Cadbury MP took part in Ride London for the Trust back in August.
